Technical Services Manager
Johnson City Public Library is seeking a full-time Technical Services Manager. The Technical Services Manager performs supervisory work in managing and directing the Technical Services staff and professional work overseeing the acquisition, cataloging and processing of materials for the library’s collection. This position performs original cataloging as necessary and other duties as assigned.
Candidates must have a thorough knowledge of the principles and practices of library science; experience with an Integrated Library System (ILS); the ability to plan, organize, and manage a public library acquisitions and cataloging department; the ability to maintain complex statistical records; a thorough knowledge of the library’s collection; the ability to work as part of the collection development team to develop a varied, balanced collection of books, periodicals, and other materials available to library patrons of all ages; considerable knowledge of library routine and procedures; the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with library personnel, local library consortium and patrons; and a working knowledge of the practical application of computer operations and procedures.
A master’s degree in library science and three years of professional library experience is required. Three to five years of management/supervisory experience is desired, SirsiDynix Symphony experience is preferred. This is a full- time position with benefits. Starting pay is $42,286 annually. This is an exempt position and the typical schedule will be 40 hours per week.
